Anthony Higgins ’98 was one of the most imposing figures to grace the hardwood of Glenbrook Gymnasium. Standing nearly seven feet tall, Higgins holds Castleton records for most career blocks and blocks in a season. In addition to his prowess on the defensive end of the court, Higgins also proved to be nearly unstoppable on the offensive end, amassing 1,220 points in his career, currently ranking 10th all-time. Higgins is currently fourth all-time in rebounding, and is one of only six men’s basketball players to achieve at least1,000 career points and 600 career rebounds while garnering two team Most Valuable Player awards and two All-Mayflower Conference honors. In four seasons, Higgins appeared in 103 games, helping the Spartans to 67 wins, and a Mayflower Conference title. As a senior, Higgins enjoyed one of the finest seasons to date; earning Mayflower Conference and team MVP honors while leading Castleton to the Mayflower Conference Championship and the program’s final berth in the NAIA National Tournament. In addition, he was also the recipient of the John Young Memorial Award, posting career highs in points (401), rebounds (216) and field goal percentage (.652).
