The 1981 Castleton State College Baseball Team was undoubtedly one of the best to ever wear the green and white. The ’81 team finished the season with an 18-9 record. They completed their conference play as the Mayflower Conference Champions with an impressive 6-1 record. The team continued their success, sweeping the N.A.I.A. District 5, to become the district champions. The team advanced to the N.A.I.A. Area VIII where they ended their successful season placing 4th. Throughout the ’81 season several individual Castleton players were recognized for special awards including a N.A.I.A. All-American and Castleton coach Jim Thieser received coach of the year for N.A.I.A. District 5.
