Charles Memoe ’63 was a super second baseman (and leadoff hitter) and soccer fullback, who was known for his consistency and ability to come through under pressure. A guard in basketball, he also ran on the track team, earning 11 varsity letters in all. He was a member of the 1962 soccer team, which went 13-2 on the year and was named to the All-Star team at the 1962 NAIA national championships, where Castleton finished second. He was a member of the 1962 New England State College championship baseball team, which finished 11-3 on the year. As a coach at Otter Valley High School, he developed strong teams, winning the Vermont State baseball title in 1976 and finishing second twice. He has been an outstanding high school athletic director and school administrator.
