Brian Stanley ’98 is arguably the finest tennis player in Castleton history. Stanley led the Spartans to four-straight Mayflower Conference titles and three NAIA Northeast Regional Championships. Stanley made four appearances in the NAIA National Tournament, becoming the only Spartan in history to win a match at the national level in 1997. His passion for the sport carried on after college, winning numerous tournaments across the nation and earning a spot on the All-Army National team in 2000. Upon graduation, Stanley entered the United States Army as an Arabic Linguist and graduated from one of the most prestigious language schools in the world: the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, in 2000. After five years in the Army, Stanley entered the Army Officer Candidate School, where he was commissioned an officer in 2003. He has held many demanding jobs as an officer and is finishing the most rewarding job in the Army as a Company Commander for one of the largest recruiting companies in the nation. Stanley is currently a Captain and serves as a financial manager.
