Frank Bizzarro ’57 was among Castleton’s first great athletes. While in high school at Mount Saint Joseph’s Academy, he was named a football All-American. At Castleton, his basketball prowess was recognized by Converse Magazine.His single-game feat of sinking 17 of 20 free throws remains a CSC record after 40 years. In cross country, he often placed second in meets just behind his twin brother Joe. In baseball, he was a shortstop and a consistent cleanup hitter. As a high school basketball coach, he has coached teams from five different Division I schools to the Vermont Final Four. He won two state titles and was Vermont Coach of the Year in 1965. In 1980, he coached the first-ever Vermont team to a victory at the Alhambra Games.
