Alan Laroche '96 is one of the all-time best point guards ever to take the floor in Glenbrook Gymnasium. As a member of the Spartans, Laroche scored 1170 points, and dished out a Castleton record 527 assists. During the 94-95 season, Laroche earned a spot on the All-Mayflower Conference team, and followed that up with the league's Player-of-the-Year honor his senior season. As a junior, Laroche earned ECAC Scholar-Athlete honors and was the team's Most Valuable Player in his final two seasons. In 1996 he earned the John Young Memorial Award, recognizing his ability, along with his leadership and positive outlook. While pursuing his education degree at Castleton, Laroche was a member of Kappa Delta Pi honor society. Since graduation, he has taught sixth grade math and passed along his passion for the game of basketball while coaching at the high school level.
