Brian Holden ’93 excelled as a member of the Spartan soccer team in the early nineties. As a freshman, Holden scored 20 goals and opened the eyes of many as an up-and-coming star on the front line. After earning conference most valuable player honors that season, Holden was asked to put his personal accolades aside for the good of the team and utilize his athleticism in the midfield, and he obliged. He continued his dominating play in the midfield for the next two seasons and was moved back to the front for his senior year, where he again led the team in scoring. Holden finished his career with 53 goals, then a Castleton record, currently placing him second on the all-time scoring list. Over his four-year career, Holden was named All-Mayflower Conference four times, earned NEISL All-Star and NAIA Scholar All-American honors twice, and was invited to play in the 1993 Umbro Senior Bowl.
