George Price ’89 was a four-year standout for the men’s basketball team and one of the most complete forwards to ever to play at Castleton. He is a member of the winningest class in program history and the only player to ever lead his team in scoring in four consecutive seasons. Price concluded his career fourth all-time with 1655 points and first all-time with 395 made free throws. Additionally, he is one of two players in program history with over 600 rebounds and 200 steals. Price burst onto the scene as a freshman, leading the team in scoring and earning Rookie of the Year honors among Vermont colleges. Price was then named All-Mayflower Conference and NAIA All-District 5 over each of his final three seasons. He was also a NAIA Honorable Mention All-America selection as a sophomore and a senior. The Spartans twice reached the NAIA District 5 Championship game during his career in addition to taking home the Mayflower Conference Championship during the 1986-87 campaign. Price graduated from Castleton in 1989 with a degree in communications.
