Richard Renaud ’79 was one of the most prolific scorers Castleton State College Soccer has ever witnessed. His offensive prowess created major problems for the opponent’s defense. Richard currently shares the record for the most goals scored in a season with 23; he also established Castleton’s all-time scoring record by netting 44 career goals. He was elected to the All-New England Team in 1978, the All-New England State College Athletic Conference 3 times (1976-78) and the NAIA All-Star Team in 1978. He was also a Second Team NAIA All-American in 1978. Since graduating, Richard has been a very successful physical education teacher and boys’ varsity soccer coach at Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham, Maine. He has won a State Championship and numerous coach of the year awards in the state of Maine.
