Frank Bellavia ’73 played an integral role in turning Spartan lacrosse into a regional contender during his career at Castleton. Bellavia led the Spartans in scoring in each of his four seasons, setting Castleton records for goals in a single game and season, which have since fallen. A three-time captain, he started every game of his career and was awarded the coveted Robert “Rocky” Mezzetta Award as a senior. As a captain and mentor, Bellavia was looked to as a leader and helped introduce many new players to the sport of lacrosse. He helped lead the 1973 team to their first-ever ECAC New England Championship, which earned the squad a place in the Castleton Hall of Fame. After graduation, he completed the General Motors Dealer Development program, became co-owner of the Bellavia Auto Group and served 10 years on several dealer advisory boards and councils for GM. Most recently, Bellavia worked on the National Dealer Council and was co-chairman of the National Buick/GMC Dealer Council, where he had the pleasure to serve on the committee that helped design and name the Buick Lacrosse. Bellavia continues to contribute to the Castleton community as a member of the Castleton Alumni Association Board.
