Hall of Fame
Lee Orvis ’65 was a key player on the powerful soccer and baseball teams of the early 1960s. He played fullback on the 1962 soccer team, which finished 13-2. As a goalie, he was the MVP at the 1963 NAIA national soccer championships and is a member of the Castleton Athletic Hall of Fame as part of that national co-champion team. He was the winner of the Coaches’ Trophy for 1963-64. A feared clutch hitter, his defensive skills as a catcher were among the best in small college baseball. After graduation, he played three years in the New York Yankees’ minor league system in North Carolina and Georgia. He has been a dedicated educator, an outstanding soccer and baseball official, and a fine coach at Proctor High School, producing numerous state championship teams in both sports.
