Stanley “Skip” Pietryka, ’63, was an exceptional three-sport athlete (soccer, basketball, baseball)whose hard work, dedication, and outstanding leadership helped to define a generation of Castleton athletics. A White Letter Winner in 1960, Stan was a four-year captain for the baseball team, helping to lead the team to a championship in 1962. Stan was also a four-year starter for the soccer team, playing halfback for the1962 NAIA National Tournament team. In the words of one of Stan’s teammates, “Skip was a leader, a gentleman, and a great athlete.” Since he graduated from Castleton, Stan has been an educator and a successful high school coach passing along his knowledge and love of sports to others.
