Robert “Rocky” Mezzetta ’70, was a determined,aggressive, and inspirational athlete. In lacrosse, he was a leading scorer from the midfield. In 1968, he was MVP of the soccer team, and in 1969, he was named to the Vermont All-State Team as a right fullback. Since 1971-72, the year following his tragic death in an automobile accident, 22 male athletes from all sports have been honored by receiving the Robert “Rocky” Mezzetta Memorial Award for their determination, drive to improve their athletic skills, and team leadership. At Castleton, the name Rocky Mezzetta is synonymous to excellence.
