C. Michael Cronin ’72 has long been involved in athletics at all levels, fillings roles such as coach, administrator, camp director, teacher, broadcaster and official. Cronin got his start at Castleton as a men’s basketball player for two seasons in 1970-71 and 1971-72. He was on the Dean’s List as a student, and was named a tri-captain of the 1971-72 men’s hoops squad. Following his graduation from Castleton with a B.S. in History, Cronin spent 30 years filling numerous roles in Capital Region high schools in New York. In addition to his work in the high schools, Cronin has also spent more than 40 years officiating high school and semi-pro football. He was named to the American Football Association’s Hall of Fame in 2003, and the Capital District chapter of the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame in 2013. He owned and operated the Highlander Basketball Camp for 23 years, serving more than 130 children each year, and coached nine years of varsity basketball at Argyle with a record of 144-43. During his time at Argyle, Cronin led his team to three Adirondack League Championships, won one sectional championship, one regional championship and brought his team all the way to the state semi-finals. Beyond the athletics arena, Cronin spent 10 years as the mayor for Hudson Falls, as well as two years each as Deputy Mayor and Village Trustee for Hudson Falls. Cronin currently resides in Hudson Falls.
