The 1986 softball team started the season with 15 straight wins and never looked back finishing the season with a 30 and 4 record. Castleton won the District V Championship with victories over Franklin Pierce and Saint Joseph’s of Maine. They went on to win the Bi-districts in Lakewood, New Jersey which placed them in the NAIA National Tournament in San Antonio, Texas. This team set a school record for the most wins by a team in a single season, a record that still remains and may never be broken.
