John Notte ’64 was a four-year standout for the Castleton baseball team during the early 1960s. As a sophomore in 1962, Notte led the team with a .340 batting average, setting the stage for one of the finest single seasons in Castleton history. His junior season, Notte ranked second in the country with a .915 slugging percentage. Notte also boasted a .424 batting average, ranked 16th in the country, and earned team's most valuable player honors. After graduating from Castleton, Notte went on to a 38-year career as an educator in the state of Vermont. His distinguished career includes 36 years at the Mount Holly School as a teacher, head teacher, teaching principal, and for the final 16 years principal. In 2001, the newly constructed gymnasium at the Mount Holly School was dedicated in his honor.
