    Coach and Athletic Director

Athletic Director T.R. Terry transformed the Castleton athletic program from three sports for men in 1958 to a modern program with seven sports for men and seven for women by the time of his retirement in 1983. He coached many sports including basketball, track, lacrosse, baseball, and golf, but he was a pioneer in soccer at Castleton and in Vermont. In his 14 years as soccer coach, his teams achieved a 122-44-7 record and were 1963 NAIA co-national champions, twice national runners-up, twice New England State College champions, and three times district champions. T.R. taught his athletes to be achievers on the field and off, and his contributions to Castleton as teacher, administrator, advisor, department chair, colleague, and friend are immeasurable. He was inducted into the SUNY College at Cortland C-Club Hall of Fame October 1, 1988.
