David H. Perrin '76 was a four-year letter winner on very successful basketball teams at Castleton. He was a determined athlete who proved to be a consistent player all four years. For the past 27 years, David has been a pioneer and leader in the field of sports medicine. After leaving Castleton as an instructor of physical education and head athletic trainer, David started his path to becoming a national leader in the field of athletic training. Upon receiving his doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh in 1985, David served as an educator in athletic training at several institutions and is currently Dean in the School of Health and Human Performance and Professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Among his many attributes, David is an accomplished author who is the editor-in-chief of The Journal of Athletic Training and was the founding editor of The Journal of Sport Rehabilitation. David has received several of the highest awards from the National Athletic Trainers' Association, including being inducted into the National Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame in 2003. Perrin is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education.
