Janna Webb (Walker) ’01 was a four-year standout on the women’s basketball team, helping the Spartans to four-straight trips to the Mayflower Conference semifinals and back-to-back conference titles in 1998 and 1999. In 99 career games Webb scored 1,143 points and collected 765 rebounds, making her one of just four players in program history to amass at least 1,000 points and 700 rebounds. A three-time all-conference honoree, she also collected 303 steals and 208 assists, a testament to her all-around abilities on the court. Webb was named team MVP twice and also earned the coveted Sharon Brown Memorial and Mary Ellen Evans Awards during her career. After graduating, she spent a year as assistant coach at Castleton before spending the next five in the same capacity at nearby Green Mountain College. She received a master’s degree in sports studies from the United States Sports Academy and has mentored multiple Castleton physical education student-teachers in her 13 years as a physical educator. Currently a physical education teacher and athletic director at Mettawee Community School in West Pawlet, Vt., Webb lives in Fair Haven with her husband Ken (’96) and sons Derek and Jacob.
