Bryan Dieter ’81 was the winner of the 1979-80 coaches’ Trophy and the 1980-81 Rocky Mezzetta Memorial Award, one of the very few athletes to be so honored for athletic ability, dedication, sportsmanship, and team leadership. As a sweeper back on the soccer team, he was known for his speed and his booming kicks. He was the soccer MVP and the conference’s most valuable defensive player in 1980. That year, he played in the New England All-Star Game and was named to the All-District Team while the Spartans achieved an 11-5-2 record. As a lacrosse player, Bryan twice led the Spartans in scoring from midfield.
