In the sport of cross-country ski racing, Michael Gallagher ’67 represented the United States in three Olympics and three World Championships while winning nine national titles. He coached the U.S. Ski Team from 1980 to 1986, years in which it was an international power. He is a member of the U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame. While attending Castleton and continuing to train for the 1968 Olympics, Mike raced on the track team, setting New England State College records in the mile and two-mile and Castleton records, which still stand, in those events and the 880. Since retiring from the U.S Ski Team, Mike has been active working with young skiers.
