Castleton, Vt. - Spencer Dandurand netted his first career hat trick, scoring three goals in the first half as the Spartans rolled to a victory over SUNY Cobleskill on Wednesday night at Spartan Stadium. John Kendall added a pair of goals and a pair of assists setting a personal career-high with the six point effort.

The Spartan scoring barrage began in the 10th minute when Owen Fellows found Dandurand on a breakaway for an easy score. Cobleskill answered with a long-distance shot from Steven Seelman just 1:28 later to tie the game.

Dandurand put the Spartans up again with a 31st-minute tally from Kendall that made the score 2-1. The Kendall-Dandurand connection came through again in the 37th to extend the Spartan lead to 3-1.

Kendall got in on the act in the waning minutes of the first half, notching a pair of goals before the halftime break. The senior beat a defender on the left flank and ripped a corkscrew shot that found the side netting to put the Spartans up 4-1. Minutes later, Kendall did it again, beating a defender in a footrace, turning the corner, and slipping the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 5-1 Spartans at halftime.

In the second half, Castleton continued to apply offensive pressure, outshooting the Fighting Tigers 12-8 in the second frame. It wasn't until the 79th minute that the Spartans added to their tally. Vinny Addonisio intercepted an errant pass from a Cobleskill defender and one-touched the ball into the goal to put Castleton up 6-1.

Nate Koenemann finished with five saves to earn the win in net for the Spartans while Tucker Lewis and Anthony Cina split time in net for the Fighting Tigers. Lewis took the loss allowing five goals while making four saves, and Cina allowed one goal and made three saves.

Castleton improves to 7-2-2 with the win and will return to North Atlantic Conference play when they take on Lyndon St. on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 2:30pm.
