Box Score

Lyndon Center, Vt. - It took an extra frame, but the Spartans registered a North Atlantic Conference road win against in-state foe Lyndon St., beating the Hornets 3-2 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

John Kendall scored the overtime goal for the Spartans who improve to 8-2-2 on the year, and move to 4-1-1 within the NAC. Kendall's game-winning tally marked his fifth goal in the Spartans' past three games. The senior co-captain has notched seven goals in total this season, all of them coming off of the bench.

The Spartans got on the board in the 24th minute with a goal from Spencer Dandurand. After registering just a pair of scores in his first 10 games this season, Dandurand has notched four goals in the past two contests. His first half score gave Castleton a 1-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Hornets tied the game with a goal from Connor Meade. The forward notched the first goal of his Lyndon St. career with an equalizer in the 61st minute, beating Spartan keeper Nate Koenemann.

Castleton answered the bell with a go-ahead goal just five minutes later. Freshman midfielder Owen Fellows notched his third goal of the season to put the Spartans up 2-1. The Spartan lead didn't last quite long enough as the Hornets drew even again in the 85th minute, tying the game at 2-2 with another goal from Meade.

Meade's second goal forced the extra frame, but Kendall's late-game heroics kept the Hornets from earning their first win of the season. His goal in the 99th minute of play pushed Castleton to the 3-2 victory.

Nate Koenemann earned the win in net for the Spartans, registering a save, while Jason Marks took the loss for Lyndon, despite turning away 12 Spartan shots.

Castleton will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 16 when they host MCLA in a non-conference match.
