Castleton Blanks Cobleskill 4-0

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Spartans continued their hot streak to over the season, playing stifling defense and getting some offense from their bench in a 4-0 victory over SUNY-Cobleskill on Sunday afternoon at Cobleskill.

Junior Nate Koenemann (Montpelier, Vt.) was forced to make just one save in earning in second shutout of the season and helping Castleton to their first 4-0 start in over a decade. Overall the Spartans outshot the home team by a 24-to-2 margin on the afternoon while limiting Cobleskill to only one shot on goal in the contest.

The Spartans received goals from three separate contributors as senior defender Jacob Roswell (Hartford, Vt.) hit the game-winner on a header in the 21st minute on a pass from senior defender Dillon Zaengle (Westhampton, Mass.). Castleton also received a pair of goals from sophomore forward Bryce Kaler (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and a single score from senior midfielder Zac Conlogue (Farmington, Maine).

Fighting Tiger senior goalkeeper Mack Curran ( Cooperstown, N.Y.) made 12 saves in net for Cobleskill on the afternoon.

Cobleskill returns to action on Tuesday September 11 when it travel to Schenectady, N.Y. to meet Union College in non-conference action beginning at 7:00 p.m. while the Spartans next play a non-league contest on Wednesday September 12 when they travel to Plattsburgh, N.Y. to meet SUNY Plattsburgh with kick-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
