Box Score

CASTLETON, Vt. - Danny Favreau (Arlington, Vt.) and Zac Conlogue (Farmington, Maine.) each scored twice to lead Castleton to a 7-1 victory over the Southern Vermont Mountaineers Wednesday night at Spartan Stadium.

Castleton scored just before the five-minute mark as Favreau scored on a cross by teammate Trevor Kotrady (North Clarendon, Vt.) from the far post to take the 1-0 lead.
The Spartans tacked on another at the 27:55 mark of the first half as Favreau's shot from 15 yards out redirected off the defenders head and into the back of the net.

Tanner LeCuyer (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) added to the Spartan lead ten minutes into the second half. The junior fired a strike from 25 yards out, passed a leaping Mountaineers goalie in Christopher Dunham (Valley Falls, N.Y.).

In the 62nd minute, junior Spencer Dandurand (Colchester, Vt.) took a pass from Dillon Zaengle (Westhampton, Mass.) and ripped a shot from 10 yards out on a left footed strike that found the back of the net.  Kotrady then scored on a breakaway that began with perfect through ball from Dameon Young (Fairfax, Vt.).

Conlogue made the score 6-0 in the 73rd minute on a shot from the far left corner of the 18.  Southern Vermont was able to break up the shutout with just under nine minutes left in the match as Derek Snow (Centerville, Mass.) shot from the far right side to the back corner of the net to make the score 6-1.

The Spartans finished the scoring as Conlogue picked up his second goal of the game just before time expired when he bounced the ball of his chest and turned and shot right past Mountaineer back-up goalie, Brenden Shea (North Providence, R.I.).

Spartan starting goalie, Nate Koenemann (Montpelier, Vt.), played 75 minutes with three saves and no goals while his counterpart Dunham finished with eight saves, giving up five goals.

The Spartans improve to 3-0 on the young season and return the action on the road Sunday at Cobleskill at 2pm.  The Mountaineers drop to 0-3 and return to the pitch on Saturday at New England College at 1pm.
