Box Score

CASTLETON, Vt. – Amanda Flodstrom (Stratham, N.H.) scored six goals and handed out three assists to lead top-seeded Castleton State College to a 19-3 win over the fourth seed University of Maine at Farmington in the semifinal round of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division Women's Lacrosse Tournament.

Castleton rattled off the first three goals of the contest as Flodstrom sandwiched a Jessica Taplin (Barre, Vt.) marker in the opening six-plus minutes.

Maddi Kadnar (Belgrade, Maine) brought the Beavers within two goals, netting her 15th of the season at the 22:48 mark, but it was as close as they would come as the Spartans reeled off nine of the next ten goals to end the half up 12-2.

Flodstrom had two goals and an assist during the surge, while Angelica Mazzola (Centerport, N.Y.) added a goal and two assists.

Miranda Levesque (Sanford, Maine) briefly broke the Castleon momentum with her ninth goal of the season to make it 7-2, but the Spartans proved to be too much down the stretch.

Castleton extended its lead to 17-2 by the 17:52 mark of the second half, as five different Spartans found the net.

Alyssa Neptune (Readfield, Maine) scored the final Beaver goal of the evening, before Cori Healy (Jefferson Township, N.J.) and Flodstrom finished the Spartan scoring.

Taryn Smith (Southbury, Conn.) added three goals and two assists off the bench and Taplin finished with three goals.

Castleton owned a 21-3 advantage off the draw and limited the Beavers to just 10-for-26 on clear attempts to earn the sizeable advantage.

Flodstrom was instrumental in the possession game for the Spartans as well, grabbing a game-high 10 draw controls.

The Spartans improve to 9-6 on the season and will host New England College in the NAC East Final tomorrow at 5 pm. The book closes on UMF's season at 5-6.
