Women's Lacrosse Season Concludes on Senior Day

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's lacrosse team concluded its 2026 season on Saturday afternoon, falling to Eastern Connecticut State University, 17-5, in a Little East Conference contest on Senior Day.

How It Happened
Eastern Connecticut struck early, scoring three goals in the first seven minutes. Renny Cota got the Spartans on the board, finishing a feed from classmate Megan Culp to make it 3-1.

Three more goals followed in the final five minutes of the opening quarter—two by the Warriors and one by Spartan Lanza Bellomo—to make it 5-2.

ECSU then rattled off seven straight goals to take a 12-2 lead with 5:57 remaining in the first half. Bella Gale accounted for Castleton's lone goal of the second quarter, cutting the deficit to 12-3 with 1:16 on the clock. The visitors responded quickly to restore a 10-goal advantage at 13-3.

Scoring slowed in the third quarter, with Eastern Connecticut netting all three goals in the frame. The Warriors added another to open the fourth quarter, extending the lead to 17-3.

The Spartans closed the game with two late scores—an unassisted goal by Gale and another from Cota—to bring the final score to 17-5.
