Box Score

CASTLETON, Vt. - The Castleton State College men's soccer team received goals from six different players and stretched its scoreless streak to 180 minutes in a 7-0 shutout of SUNY Cobleskill Sunday afternoon at Spartan Stadium.

The Spartans controlled play from the start, out-shooting their guests 32-5, while holding a distinct 13-4 edge in corner kicks.

Trevor Kotrady (North Clarendon, Vt.) started the scoring in the 14th minute of play converting a Dameon Young (Fairfax, Vt.) assist into his fourth goal of the season. Kotrady took the feed from Young just inside the penalty box and bent his shot just inside the far post. Young made it 2-0 just less than seven minutes later, one-touching home his second of the season off an assist from freshman classmate, Spencer Dandurand (Colchester, Vt.).

Castleton poured on five more goals in the second half, including a pair from John Kendall (Springfield, Vt.) and single markers from Dandurand, Tanner LeCuyer (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) and Jack Hubbard (Swanton, Vt.).

LeCuyer started the scoring in the 52nd minute as he settled a loose ball at the top of the box and sent home a rocket past the sprawling keeper. Dandurand and Young hooked up for a second time, this time with Young providing the helper to Dandurand's first career goal.

Kendall's goals came back-to-back in the span of five minutes, and both brought the crowd to their feet. Hubbard set up his first tally, making a short pass to the right flank that Kendall settled 35 yards out and placed perfectly inside the upper corner of the far post. The second goal was facilitated off a re-start as Dillon Zaengle (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) played a pass into the box from midfield that Kendall redirected with his head past the keeper.

Hubbard's first career goal wrapped up the scoring as he got just enough of his head on a LeCuyer throw in to misdirect it into the back of the net.

Nate Koenemann (Montpelier, Vt.) stopped a pair of shots in 71 minutes of action, before giving way to Nolan Arentz (Stevens, Pa.) and Travis Powers (Cornwall, N.Y.) for the final 19 minutes. Neither was tested.

Brian Faulkner (New Kingston, N.Y.) stopped eight shots in the first half, and Patrick Cobane (Delhi, N.Y.) made two saves over the final 45 minutes.

Castleton will host Plattsburgh State Wednesday at 7 pm, while Cobleskill travels to MCLA on Tuesday at 4 pm.
