Castleton downs Becker behind six goals from Haggerty

LEICESTER, Mass. – Liz Haggerty (Centerport, N.Y.) scored six goals to lead Castleton State College to an 18-6 win over Becker College in New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) action Saturday afternoon.

Castleton scored the first seven goals of the contest, and opened up an 11-1 lead by halftime.

Haggerty led 10 different Spartans in the scoring column, as JenniLee Mark (Chelmsford, Mass.) Amanda Flodstrom (Stratham, N.H.) and Angelica Mazzzola (Centerport, N.Y.) each tallied two.

Becker's Morgan Hazen (Woodstock, VT) had a hatrick to lead the Hawks and Ashley Mossey (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) added a pair of goals.

Castleton outshot Becker 31-13 in the win.

Ashly Neal (York Beach, Maine) earned the win in between the pipes. Neal played the first 19-plus minutes of the contest, and turned away the only shot that came her way. Lily Derbyshire (Little Compton, R.I.) stopped one shot in 19-plus minutes, allowing four goals while Becki Duszak (Erieville, N.Y.) made one save and allowed two goals in the final 21 minutes.

Castleton will host Keene State on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in non-conference action.
