Box Score COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The Castleton State College men's soccer team received one goal, one assist performances from Josh Costa (Sutton, Mass.) and Trevor Kotrady (Clarendon, Vt.) as the Spartans defeated SUNY-Cobleskill 2-1 in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.
Costa connected for his fifth goal of the season in the 10th minute of play, one-touching past Cobleskill keeper Mack Curran (Cooperstown, N.Y.) off a Kotrady cross.
Castleton (2-2) appeared to have the game well under control, out-shooting the host Tigers 12-6 over the opening 45 minutes of play, but Aaron Gallusser (Oneonta, N.Y.) knotted the score at 1-1 in the 60th minute on a 35-yard direct-kick that beat Castleton goalie Nate Koenemann (Montpelier, Vt.).
Kotrady came through with the game winner in the 75th minute, converting a Costa assist from 12 yards out.
The Spartans out-shot Cobleskill 30-9 for the contest and held a 10-3 edge in corner kicks, but coudl never put the game away.
Curran stopped nine shots in the loss for the 1-3 Tigers, while Koenemann made two saves to earn his first collegiate win.
Castleton will travel to Plattsburgh State Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference affair.
