Castleton wins fifth-straight, downs Green Mountain 3-1

POULTNEY, Vt. – Three different players scored as Castleton State College won 3-1 over Green Mountain College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action Wednesday night.

The Spartans lift their record to 8-4 (4-0, NAC) while the Eagles fall to 1-8-1 (0-3, NAC) on the season.

Castleton got on the board just nine minutes into the contest when junior Nick Johnas (Niskayuna, N.Y.) collected a free ball near the top of the box and curled a ball into the back post.  Anthony Buehler (Castleton, Vt.) double the visitors lead in the 32nd when he latched onto a tidy through ball from Billy Lund (Monsoon, Mass.) and slipped it past GMC goalkeeper Nat Kishbaugh (Niskayuna, N.Y.). 

Trevor Kotrady (No. Claredon, Vt.) added a third in the 60th before the Eagles pulled one back through Charly Thevenau (Spring, Texas) just two minutes later.

Castleton outshot GMC 24-10 on the afternoon forcing Kishbaugh into 10 saves while Andy LeCroix (Jamaica, Vt.) made three stops for the Spartans.

GMC returns to conference play Saturday when they host Lyndon State College at 3:00 pm while the Spartans head to Johnson State College at 4:00 pm on Friday afternoon.
