Castleton earns first win of the season, 22-0 over Green Mountain College

Fort Ann, NY-Stephanie Pearce paced 12 different scorers with four goals and one assist as Castleton State College defeated Green Mountain College 22-0 in women's lacrosse action at Golden Goal in Fort Ann, New York.

Marie VanDerKar scooped up the initial draw control and raced into the offensive third, scoring just 13 seconds into the contest as Castleton built a 15-0 halftime lead. VanDerKar finished the game with two goals and two assists, while Nicole Bouchard added three goals and two assists for the 1-1 Spartans.

Nicole Adams got in on the act with two goals and one assist, while Ashley Asker (three goals, one assist) and Erin Barry (two goals) provided offensive punch off the bench.

The Spartans out-shot their guests 33-4 as Green Mountain falls to 1-1 in their inaugural season.

Emma Buckley stopped four shots in taking the loss. Meredith Pope earned the win, stopping one shot in the first half. Francesca Mazzola and Rebecca Duszak shared duty in the second half, with Duszak picking up the only save of the half.

Green Mountain will travel to Gordon College on Friday, March 28 for a 4:00 pm match-up.

The Spartans return to action at Golden Goal on Saturday, March 29 when they play host to Bridgewater State in their New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) opener. [
