Northfield, VT-The Castleton State College men's lacrosse team built an 11-3 halftime lead and cruised to a 23-4 victory over the Cadets at Howard Field. The win improves Castleton to 10-4, while Norwich closes out the 2007 season with a 3-10 mark.

Matt VanDerKar and Adam Rosati each scored five goals to lead the Spartans, while six other players scored two goals apiece. Stephen Gerding dished out four assists, while VanDerKar led the way with 21 groundballs.

Cody Hardenburgh, Sam Glanders, Drew Caplin, and Colin Smith each scored one goal to account for the Cadets scoring. Hardenburgh logged Norwich's only assist and Glanders topped NU with seven groundballs.

Castleton outshot Norwich, 60-31. Spartan goaltenders Michael Mamunes and David Manghis combined for 13 saves, while NU netminders Joe Phelan and Mike Slack teamed up for 18 stops.

The Spartans will take on Mount Ida in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship game this Saturday at 1:00 pm.
