Men's Lacrosse on Wrong Side in Dual with Warriors

MANSFIELD, Conn. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's lacrosse team found itself on the wrong end of a 19-3 decision at Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
Castleton was able to hold the hosts scoreless for the opening 1:20 before Eastern Connecticut struck, igniting a four-goal run. Preston Kozlowski netted his seventh of the season to get the Spartans on the board at 4-1, with Cole Bowditch recording the assist.

The Warriors then added seven more goals, stretching their lead to 11-1 early in the second quarter with 7:52 remaining in the half. Matt Gregoire scored the team's second goal of the day, assisted by classmate Jason Samek, to make it 11-2. The hosts tacked on two more before halftime to take a 13-2 lead into the break.

Eastern Connecticut controlled the third quarter as well, scoring all three goals in the frame to extend the advantage to 16-2 heading into the fourth.

Carter Frankenhoff accounted for Castleton's final goal of the day, with classmate Liam Evarts earning the assist. The hosts added three more in the final 12 minutes to secure the 19-3 victory.

Asa Forbes led the defensive effort with four caused turnovers while scooping up five ground balls.
