Castleton wins big over Thomas, 17-3

Castleton, VT-The Castleton Spartans women's lacrosse team sprinted out to an 8-2 halftime lead and never looked back as they defeated Thomas College 17-3 in NEWLA action.

Castleton out-shot their guests 37-6, and held a 25-13 edge on groundballs. Nicole Bouchard had a big day with three goals and three assists to lead the 5-4 (4-2 NEWLA) Spartans. Nicole Adams chipped in with three goals and two assists, while Kristin Mullholand added three goals off the bench.

Thomas falls to 1-7 overall, and 0-7 in conference play. Karen Demers, Heather Ramos and Nicole Paradee each had one goal for the Terriers.

Aimee Goulette and Stephanie Pearce each chipped in with two goals and one assist, while Erin Berry tallied two goals. DeeDee Schroeder and Colleen Rupp each had one goal to round out the Spartan scoring. Alex Fleck assisted on four Spartan goals.

Francesca Mazzola stopped three shots in the win, while Thomas goalie, CJ Haines made 12 saves. The Spartans return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Norwich for a 4:00 pm NEWLA contest. Thomas wraps up their season Wednesday at Southern Maine.
