Portland, ME -The Castleton State College women's lacrosse found themselves down early once again, and it spelled trouble as they fell to Southern Maine 16-7.

The Spartans fell behind 11-3 at halftime to the host Huskies in a non-league affair.

Katelyn Greene led the Spartan attack with three goals. Stephanie Pearce, Alex Fleck, Nicole Bouchard and Nicole Adams each scored single tallies but it was not enough to combat the solid attack of Southern Maine.

Southern Maine had four players score three goals as they improved to 2-3 on the young season.

Meredith Pope stopped 12 shots for 1-2 Castleton, who is back in action on Thursday, April 5 at 4:00 pm.
