Castleton falls 9-5 in season opener versus Plymouth State

Manchester, NH-The Castleton State College men's lacrosse team dropped their season opener to Plymouth State 9-5 at Southern New Hampshire University. Michael Mamunes stopped 23 shots on net but it wasn't enough as the Panther defense put the camps down on the visiting Spartans.

Robbie Scanlon led Castleton with a pair of goals, while Mike Martinez, Steve Gerding and Matt varney each chipped in with one apiece.

Wes Downing led Plymouth State with three goals on the afternoon. Nick Grobe and Steve Valeri split time in the Panther goal and combined for 17 saves (Grobe 10).

The Spartans return to action on Sunday, March 18 when they travel to Western Connecticut State Univeristy at 2:00 PM
