PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Alex McClelland was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row following a 3-3 week for the Spartan baseball team.

This week, McClelland combined for eight hits for a batting average of .500 on the week. He added five RBIs, while notching the first double and triple of his career in the same game. In the team's 14-2 win over John Jay, he posted three hits with one RBI and tied that career-high with three hits against John Jay the following day in a 12-2 win. In the second win, he also notched his first career double and triple. He added his final hit of the week during the 7-1 loss to St. John Fisher.

The rookie sits second on the team in total hits on the season with 11 and leads the Spartans with a .556 total batting average through eight games played.

The team is back in action on Thursday, March 5, as they head to Emerson for the first northeast game of the season, with first pitch set for 4 p.m.
