PITMAN, N.J. – Josh Peguero of the Vermont State University Castleton football team has earned his first career conference honor, being named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 7.
Peguero made an impressive collegiate debut on Saturday, helping lead the Spartans to a 16-12 road victory over Westfield State University.
The first-year wide receiver from Middletown, N.Y., hauled in two receptions for 47 yards, including the game-winning 27-yard touchdown late in the contest. He caught the pass in stride and coolly walked into the end zone for the score.
Peguero and the Spartans return to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday, when they host Norwich University in a matchup that will see Castleton attempt to retain the coveted Sap Bucket Trophy.
