Football Closes out 2025 Slate at #11 Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – The Vermont State University Castleton football team fell on the road Saturday evening, dropping a 63-13 decision to No. 11 Salisbury in New Jersey Athletic Conference play.

How It Happened
Salisbury opened fast with five first-quarter touchdowns to take a 35-7 lead. Castleton's score came on a 26-yard touchdown pass from Jhai Vellon to Daniel Doherty IV at 7:30 of the first quarter.

The Sea Gulls added two more touchdowns before halftime and led 49-13 at the break. Castleton's second touchdown came in the second quarter when Vellon found Braden Lankarge on a 4-yard pass.

Salisbury added one score in each of the last two quarters, leaning on a run game that finished with 382 yards. Castleton generated several defensive stops in the second half, including a turnover-on-downs inside the Spartan 5-yard line.

Josh Cormier and Xavian Breer each chipped in tackles on the interior and combined on a goal-line stop late in the second quarter.
