PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Vermont State University Castleton's
Madison Gould,
Makayla Walsh and
Masson Billert were selected to the Little East Conference's All-Conference Team on Tuesday.
Gould was named to the First Team All-LEC as a pitcher after a sensational sophomore season. The Whitehall, N.Y. native posted a new career high and LEC-leading 1.68 ERA in 15 appearances, going 9-4 with 11 complete games, 84 strikeouts and four shutouts. Gould's made history as she became the second player to pitch a perfect game in program history after tossing out 10 batters with zero hits in a 11-0 victory over UMaine-Farmington.
The sophomore also provided a career year at the plate after providing a .310 batting average with 31 hits, 18 runs and 10 doubles. Her best outing this season was against UMaine-Farmington, where she went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with one run, one RBI and two doubles.
First-Year Walsh made an immediate impact to the Spartans' starting lineup, earning her Second and All-Rookie Team selections. Walsh finished second on Castleton with a .346 batting average and led the team with 17 RBIs. She also tallied 27 hits, 16 runs, six doubles and two triples for an impressive first run.
The Valatie, N.Y. native primarily took behind plate at the two spot with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 101 putouts, seven assists, three caught stolen bases and zero errors. Walsh also tallied three stolen bases of her own.
Billert rounds out VTSU Castleton's selection after being tabbed to her first All-LEC Second Team honor as the team's designated player. The junior from Shaftsbury, Vt. ignited a new career best .279 batting average, 19 hits, four runs, six RBIs and four doubles. She also saw new best with her on base percentage reaching to .364% and her slugging percentage going up to .338%
