PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Vermont State University Castleton softball team ended their 2025 campaign with a Little East doubleheader contest against Rhode Island College on Saturday. RIC would take both games on senior day, eliminating the Spartans from a LEC playoff berth.

How It Happened:
- RIC's Amanda Conti brought in a RBI on a fielding error by the Spartans to get the first run on the board in the bottom of the first inning.
- With bases loaded, Jordan Hill hit a single to left center to send home Abby Hacker and Masson Billert to give Castleton their first runs and to take the lead at 2-1.
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Anchorwomen hit back-to-back homers to regain the lead at 4-2.
- Castleton looked to tie the game up in the last inning of play, but RIC would hang on and secure the game one victory.

How It Happened:
- RIC picked up from where they left off in game one by tallying three runs in the first inning.
- Gould and Hill each hit singles to start the top of the third inning. Alexis Rogers smacked an RBI double to give Castleton their first run of the match.
- Taylor Russell sent home Gould and Rogers with a single deep to right center field, tying the game up at three aside.
- The Anchorwomen cracked the bats in the bottom of the fourth inning, chalking up four hits for three runs to make it 6-3.
- In the sixth inning, Vinna Jensen got the Spartans going with a single RBI to close in on RIC's lead.
- With Jensen and Jess Heinrichs in scoring positions, Gould blasted a double to center field, sending the two home to tie the game at six.
- Rogers capped off a five hit inning for the Spartans with her second hit and RBI of the game by sending Gould home and giving Castleton their first lead of the game at 7-6.
- The Anchorwomen's Reilly Austin hit a RBI double to left field to tie the game at seven in the bottom of the sixth.
- The two sides did not find the game-winning run in the seventh, and would go on to play an extra inning to decide the winner.
- After a quick 1-2-3 outing, the Anchorwomen took to the bottom of the eighth inning where they would find the go-ahead run on a wild pitch to take victory over Castleton 8-7.
