NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field team took eighth place at the Little East Championship, scoring 21 points on Sunday.
How It Happened:
- Isabell Lanfear secured a podium placement in the javelin throw with a new personal best tossing 36.02m to secure 2nd place and eight points for the Spartans.
- Kalynn Stevenson improved her school record in the shot put with a toss of 12.65m to finish third overall and claim a podium spot. Lanfear tossed a new personal best of 11.63m to place sixth in the event. The pair combined for seven points.
- Stevenson tallied four points in the discus throw with a mark of 36.13m to place fourth. Katelyn Yerdon tossed 31.57m to take eighth in the event.
- Karli Martin took 5th place in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.65, grabbing two points for the team total.
- Bethany Davis improved her school record in the 5000m with a time of 19:34.24 to take eighth place.
- Rosie Phelan ran a new personal record and placed ninth in the 1500m with a time of 5:34.39.
- Megan Carson clocked in 13.11 in the preliminary round of the 100m to finish 13th overall. She doubled back to compete in the 200m dash, where she also finished 13th with a time of 27.67.

VTSU Castleton will compete at the DIII New England Championships on May 2nd and 3rd in New London, Conn. hosted by Coast Guard.
