HOOKSETT, N.H.- The Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field team debuted their outdoor season at the SNHU Spring Invitational on Friday.
First-year Megan Carson made her outdoor debut in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 13.28 to place 11th in the event. She also competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing 12th with a time of 27.62.
In the distance events, senior Bethany Davis earned a sixth-place finish in the 5000-meter run, crossing the line in 19:38.09. Rosie Phelan competed in the 1-mile run, clocking in 6:07.24 to place 27th overall.
Junior Abigail Seaman led Castleton in the jumps, finishing second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.48m. Adrian Clement leaped 9.47m to finish seventh in the event.
In the throws Sienna Newth led the Spartans in the shot put with a fifth-place finish, tossing 10.21m. Karli Martin and Isabell Lanfear took seventh and eighth in the event with marks of 10.11 and 10.03 meters. Luna Perry-St. Peter launched a 32.96m throw in the javelin to take fifth in the event. Lanfear placed seventh with a mark of 31.54m.
VTSU Castleton returns to action next Saturday, April 5 at the Springfield College Classic.Â
