MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field team competed at the Middlebury Track & Field Meet on Saturday.
Kalynn Stevenson started her day by capturing first place in the shot put with a toss of 11.89m. She then followed up with a second-place finish in the weight throw, with a mark of 13.29m.
The Spartans took third, fifth, and sixth behind Stevenson's first-place finish in the shot put.
Isabell Lanfear and
Sienna Newth launched new personal records taking third and fifth. Lanfear tossed 11.29m and Newth threw 10.66m.
Karli Martin's 10.54m placed her sixth in the event.
Martin, Lanfear, and Newth also had strong performances in the weight throw. Martin took third with a mark of 12.79m. Lanfear tossed 12.22m for sixth and Newth placed 11th with a toss of 10.46m.
McKenna Castor tied her personal best of 9.78 in the preliminary heats of the 60m hurdles. She qualified for the finals, where she finished sixth overall with a time of 9.92.

Rachel Doty-Snay placed 10th and 12th with personal records of 8.42 and 8.76 in the 60m dash.
Rosie Phelan dropped down to the 800m run, where she ran a personal best in 2:43 for a seventh-place finish.
VTSU Castleton returns to action on Saturday, February 15 at the Gordan Kelly Invitational.
