PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's track and field team competed at the Little East Conference Championship on Saturday. The team placed eighth overall, scoring a total of seven points.
Wayne Alexander secured four points for the Spartans in the 600m in run. He placed fourth in the event with a time of 1:25.97.
First-year
Eddie Sayers launched a huge personal record in the shot put, tossing 13.26m to grab two points in his fifth place finish.
Connor Fournier and
Sidiki Sylla threw 12.12m and 12.11m for 12th and 13th in the event.
Carter Mackey placed sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.90m to secure a point for the team score.
Jon Hendley took on the 5000m run, where he crossed the line in 16:30 for a ninth place finish.
The 4x200m relay of
Zack Durr,
Brody Hopkins,
Sean Roth and
Jacques Alfani finished ninth in the event, clocking in a 1:40.72 as a squad. Durr and Alfani also teamed up with Alexander and
Aerion Joseph in the 4x400m relay, where the team also placed ninth with a time of 3:45.48.
VTSU Castleton returns to action for the New England DIII Track & Field Championships starting Friday, February 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass.
