Women's Track and Field Dial In at Gordon Kelly Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field team competed at the Gordon Kelly Invitational on Saturday.

Kicking off the day was Megan Carson, who ran a new personal best of 8.35 in the preliminary round which qualified her to the finals. She ran 8.40 in the finals and finished eighth overall in the event. Rachel Doty-Snay also competed in the 60m dash, where she ran a new personal record of 8.74 to finish 16th in the event. 

Carson and Doty-Snay also competed in the 200m dash. Carson clocked in a 28.71 to finish eighth overall. Doty-Snay placed 14th with a new personal best of 29.88.

Karla Sherman took fourth in the 600m with a time of 2:09. Rosie Phelan ran a new personal record of 3:30 in the 1000m run to place fifth. Olivia Howard took on the 1-mile run and placed 14th in the event with a time of 6:49. Bethany Davis finished 11th in the 3000m run, crossing the finish line in 11:40.

Kalynn Stevenson took third place in the shot put with a mark of 12.18m. Isabell Lanfear launched her attempt at 10.60m to take 11th in the event.

Karli Martin tossed over 13 meters for the fourth time this season in the weight throw with a mark of 13.03m which placed her 12th in the event. First-year Sienna Newth threw a personal best in the weight throw, tossing 11.31m to place 19th.

VTSU Castleton will travel to Providence R.I. for the Little East Conference Championship on Saturday, February 22 at 11 a.m.
