Seaman Leads Spartans at Panther Invitation II

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field team had several standout performances at the Panther Invitational II hosted by Plymouth State on Saturday.

In the 60-meter dash Megan Carson led the team, finishing 14th overall with a time of 8.74 seconds. In the 3,000 meters Bethany Davis had a strong race, securing a 9th-place finish with a mark of 11:26.64. 

Field events were a highlight for the Spartans, with Abigail Seaman earning a 3rd-place finish in the triple jump, recording a mark of 10.59m (34' 9") to score six points. Carson also placed in the top 10 in the triple jump, finishing 8th with a mark of 9.57m (31' 4.75"), to contribute one point to the team total.

In the throws, Kalynn Stevenson was strong in both the shot put and weight throw. She placed 4th in shot put with a throw of 11.43m (37' 6"), scoring five points, and followed up with a 7th-place finish in the weight throw at 12.93m (42' 5.25"), earning two more points. Isabell Lanfear performed well in the shot put, finishing 8th (10.40m, 34' 1.5, to add one point. 

The Spartans will return to action on Saturday, February 8 as they travel to Middlebury.
