CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton wrestling team has garnered rankings from The Open Mat and D3wrestle.com this week. Castleton was ranked ninth in team tournament rankings and seventh in team dual rankings ahead of the start of the 2025-26 campaign from The Open Mat.

The Spartans have five wrestlers ranked in the top-20 of their respective weight classes. Evan Day was ranked sixth at 285 pounds, while Connor Gregory was ranked seventh at 174 pounds. Nathaniel Camiscioli earned an eighth-place ranking at 157 pounds, with Drew Marchese ranking 14th at 133 pounds, and Jashon Holmes rounding out The Open Mat rankings at 15th at 165 pounds.

D3wrestle.com tabbed Gregory (174) seventh, and Camiscioli (157) ninth in their respective weight classes. Marchese (133), Holmes (165), Josh Negron (197), and Day (285) were all ranked as contenders in their weight classes.

The season begins this Sunday, November 2, at the Lycoming Invitational at 9:30 a.m.
