CASTLETON, Vt. -- As part of a NCAA Division III D3Week three-part feature series, the Castleton Athletic Communications office caught up with
Nathaniel Camiscioli of the Vermont State University Castleton wrestling team.
Camiscioli is a junior from Parsippany, New Jersey and has been a member of the wrestling program for the past two seasons after transferring from Purdue University. Over his two seasons, he has compiled a record of 64-17, and appeared at the NCAA Division III National Championships both years.
What has your experience been like at Castleton, academic and athletics-wise?
My experience thus far at Castleton has been optimal.
Why did you choose to wrestle for Castleton at the Division III level, and how did you come to the decision after spending time at Purdue?
To start, after spending time at the Big Ten level I knew I needed a more personalized learning experience. I chose to wrestle at Castleton because of the opportunity to chase the goal of being an All-American coupled with the prospect of an upcoming team also chasing national titles.
What do you enjoy the most about being a Division III student-athlete?
The thing I enjoy the most about wrestling as a Division III athlete is the time I get to spend with my teammates and the journey we are all on to becoming All-Americans and National Champions. I like having my brothers I can depend on. Being a student-athlete at Castleton has also allowed me to achieve personal and academic growth through the small, tight-knit community of students and faculty we have here.
Has there been anything outside of athletics that has been memorable to your time here?
Spending time on campus last summer for the Castleton wrestling camp left a distinct impression on me. Particularly because I remember when I was in their shoes, and I realized that my career had almost come full circle, and I hope that they carry on the sport of wrestling.
Camiscioli will look to cap off his strong collegiate career with the Spartans during the 2025-26 wrestling season.
